Want to get involved with EMPOWERED? We would love to have you! From now through July 2010, we have waived the membership fee. To be a member, you can do one or more of the following:
1- Send us your email address so that we can add you to our contact list. We will send you information of upcoming events, service projects, opportunities, committee meetings and fundraisers.
2-Attend and participate in our Service Projects, Social Events and Fundraisers.

3- Help to plan any of our events by serving on one of our 5 committees (details below). If one interests you, email empowered@usa.redcross.org and we’ll put you in touch with the committee chair.

4- Become a Red Cross Volunteer and be trained to volunteer in Disaster Relief, Health and Safety Services or Service to Armed Forces.

Cocktail Hour Committee
EMPOWERED is thrilled to be the host of the Cocktail Hour for the American Red Cross Tampa Bay Chapter’s Annual “Night in Havana” Gala. The event will take place on Saturday, June 5th at the Renaissance Hotel at International Mall. The Cocktail Hour Committee will be responsible for event details to include securing sponsors, deciding on entertainment, signature drink, passed hors d’oeuvres and other event details. The committee will meet monthly in the evenings.
5k Committee
EMPOWERED’s 2009, ”Race for Red Cross” was a huge success! We hope to build on that success in 2010 and once again host this event in partnership with the USF club. The 5K will take place in October 2010. We are starting now with the planning of all details to include securing the venue, sponsors, race management team, volunteers, t-shirts, etc. We would love the help and input of anyone interested in being a part of this fun and hard-working event committee!
Social Networking Event Committee
Do you love networking events? Since we started in May 2008, EMPOWERED has hosted fun, energetic networking events in hopes of putting young professionals in the Tampa Bay area in contact with one another while we support the American Red Cross. The Social Networking Event Committee is a group of fun young professionals responsible for planning the details of these events. We will host four events in 2010: February, May, August and December. Feel free to help plan one, a couple or all of them by joining this dynamic committee.
Service Committee
As a program of the American Red Cross Tampa Bay Chapter, EMPOWERED is dedicated to service. However, we’re aware that young professionals are busy and may not have the flexibility to become trained and full-fledged American Red Cross Volunteers. Thus, our service committee is dedicated to planning two mission-oriented service projects a year that can be accomplished in a day or two. This offers young professionals in the community an easy way to give back to their community. In addition to the two service events hosted by EMPOWERED, this committee seeks other Red Cross mission-related opportunities to communicate to our members.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is comprised of a group of individuals who are dedicated to expanding EMPOWERED’s presence within the Tampa Bay Community as well as developing new ways to make membership to EMPOWERED a great experience. We’re constantly looking for new ideas and would love for you to join us if you’re interested in growing this organization!
