Inspirational Remarks from the CEO of the American Red Cross
On July 21st, 2009 Gail McGovern, CEO of the American Red Cross, was invited to speak at the National Press Club on the issue of “Navigating a Non-Profit through Turbulent Economic Waters.”
McGovern’s speech focused on five key things the ARC has done to reduce its deficit without undermining its ability to provide services to the communities they serve. McGovern emphasized a renewed focus on the organization’s mission, showing the donors that their dollars are well spent, looking for new ways to involve donors, using new tools such as social networking and online media, and lastly, looking towards the future for innovative approaches to helping the organization prosper.
Her remarks are a true inspiration during these tough economic times when it’s increasingly difficult for people to give money to charity organizations. To hear her full remarks, visit the National Red Cross Blog.
