Saturday, Oct 25th, EMPOWERED Makes a Difference!

This past Saturday morning, EMPOWERED volunteers participated in James Haley VA Hospital’s Annual Make A Difference Day.  They met at the hospital where they picked up personalized gifts and then went out in groups to deliver these gifts to 49 Veterans living in nine Foster Homes. 

“We were given our gifts and names and were sent off to deliver.  My husband and two children and I delivered to a home in Plant City where 3 veterans reside.  We gave them the gifts and sat and talked with them for about an hour.  They were very grateful and really enjoyed our company more than the gifts.  They spoke of their time in the military, their families and other fond memories.  We told them we would be back to see them – so my family will take these three veterans a gift each at Christmas.”  — Sara McMillan
