Red Cross responds to 6 fires over the weekend
The American Red Cross Tampa Bay Chapter typically responds to one home fire every 24 hours in our tri-county area, covering Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties. However this past Sunday evening, while the city was celebrating the Rays victory over the Boston Red Sox, the Red Cross was responding to its 6th fire of the weekend and 100th fire since July 1.
To grasp what that actually means and how prevalent home fires are in our community, you can check out this map of the Tampa Bay Chapter’s disaster responses since July 1.
The Red Cross knows that fires affect the lives of people in the Tampa Bay Community every single day. As this is Fire Prevention Month, we hope that you will take a few minutes to prepare your own family, school and workplace for the worst.
If you would like to help the victims of house fires and other local disasters, please make a donation to the American Red Cross Tampa Bay Chapter on our website at www.redcrosstbc.org or by calling 1-877-741-1444.
