Survey Finds Young Adults at Risk for Home Fires

2008 October 6

According to a recent survey conducted by the American Red Cross and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) young adults, ages 18-24, are at risk for home fires because of specific actions they do or do not take.  For example, young adults are more likely than other respondents to state they will use the oven to keep the kitchen warm this winter.  They are also less likely to take precautionary steps such as removing the lint from the dryer filter after every load (one in three do not remove the lint after every load).

EMPOWERED strongly encourages the Tampa Bay young professional community to participate in National Fire Prevention Week, October 5-11th, by taking actions to prevent a fire in your personal home!  Together we can change the stats of this survey.  Check out our website for fire safety and preparedness tips.
